On turning 55, portals and my Jupiter book!

I come bearing gifts because it’s my birthday today! 🎉

1. Jupiter - A Generous Guide to the Planet of Hope, Faith & Good Fortune

It is finally here! Perhaps unsurprisingly, considering this is about the planet of expansion and generosity, it took me almost three months to write this guide. I spotted bald eagles almost daily while working on this, and then there were many unexpected references to peacocks that assured me the Spirits of Wisdom were guiding me in writing this guide. A friend who had no idea I was working on this guide sent me a card with a peacock feather pattern in the mail, and another friend sent a video of a peacock strutting around in a park in Paris…

Sinkers, Floaters & Hunters

When my mother bought a colour television in 1980, there was only one show that drew me away from our garden and my books, and that was Carl Sagan’s seminal and poetic Cosmos.

In the episode, Life on Jupiter, Carl Sagan imagined Jupiter was inhabited by Sinkers, Floaters and Hunters. Sinkers are tiny and live in the upper atmosphere. Floaters are like “vast living balloons” and “larger than whales”. He speculated they “array themselves in great lazy herds as far as the eye can see” in the updrafts of helium and hydrogen. Hunters eat these Floaters, but there aren’t that many Hunters because if they destroy all the Floaters, they will perish.

This episode marked the first time Carl discussed the possibility of extraterrestrial life in our solar system.

While we may never know if he was familiar with the astrological significations of the planets, it is interesting that he chose to describe what is possible in the Jupiter episode, as Jupiter is the planet of both the extraordinary and the probable.

This book is about Jupiter and my experiences with Jupiter as the principle of hope, faith, expansion, growth, luck, and opportunity. Jupiter sits on my midheaven in the 9^th House, and when I discovered that, with the help of an ephemeris in my twenties, many things started falling into place for me. It explained a lot. I have mingled with and learned from people of various faiths since I was a child. I turn everything into a ritual. I love teaching and travelling. And, I believe in the power of prayer…

I’m fifty-five years old today, and I freakin’ LOVE being this age, and I LOVE the number 55! (It’s a double pentagram!!)

I truly believe that the longer we live, the more beautiful life becomes,¹ and we become hotter (in every sense), funnier, and witchier!

I’ve been having crazy dreams about portals. Now I’m not one to speak out loud about portals, although I open and close them with some regularity. In one of the dreams – the craziest of the lot – I was part of a small group watching a portal of light open up in the heavens, and all these fabulous creatures came tumbling out; angelic beings, walking trees, giant bee-like insects, shells with eyes….it was all very cinematic.

At one point during this dream, I turned to the guy standing beside me and asked him if we were all on drugs.

The dream was peppered with Neptunian symbols. As you approach the year you turn 55, transiting Neptune trines your natal Neptune, and a portal opens to higher consciousness.

When reading charts for my clients in their mid-fifties, many finally come to the realization that you don’t have to live up to culture’s or others’ expectations for your life. It’s not new information. Some of us take a torch to our lives in our early forties in an attempt to clear the path to a life more aligned with our deepest values, but it’s only around this age that it becomes clear that we have a sacred duty to live a legendary life of our own design.

Neptune’s purpose is to dissolve false realities.

Transiting Uranus trines your natal Uranus in your 55th year, and since I am currently experiencing this, I can tell you it is electric in the best sense. It is medicine! A new and revitalizing energy! Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, and Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, and this means that when you reach the midpoint of your life (should you live to 100 years old), you are given the keys to access the higher realms.
