Some people, like my sister and her family, prefer spending their Summer weekends and vacations at the beach. I, on the other hand, enjoy lakes. My favorite lakes tend to be off trail or a few kilometers away from a road which I can tell you here in Vancouver and surrounding areas does not guarantee privacy. A few years back we hiked for over two hours to a crater lake to find the beach dotted with tents and half-naked bodies.
Anyway, when you head into the mountains or forests every Summer like my husband and I do, you inevitably run into forest fires. This past Sunday - just like the previous Sunday - we watched curls of white smoke rise from a distant mountain. About an hour later aircraft killed that fire with water.
While we have become accustomed to Fire and all the devastation and horror associated with fire we seem less attuned to this element than to the other three: Water, Air and Earth.
Yet, it should come as no surprise that fire dominates at this time in our story because think about fire.
It doesn’t care about your feelings.
It doesn’t care for boundaries - superficial or otherwise.
Fire feeds off its own passions.
Fire ignites, inspires, blazes, burns, dances, destroys, glows, warms ….
There is no rationalizing with fire. That is Air.
There’s no navigating through feelings. That is Water.
There’s no grounding and practical living. That is Earth.
Fire doesn’t wait for feelings and thoughts to align. It ignites on the scene in a red dress and killer heels because it can.
Venus as you know by now is retrograde in Sun-ruled Leo and we’ve all signed up for a masterclass on the element of Fire.
Think back to 2015 which is when Venus was last in Leo. What were you enthusiastic about back then? What did you most desire ? Are you wanting more of the same or are you currently reevaluating what was started then?
Consider also what, if anything, “put out your fire” back in 2015.
Was it a lack of confidence? Was it pride?
Perhaps what you were wrestling with then you are still wrestling with now. Maybe it’s a lack of clarity.
Clarity comes from Fire.
You just have to light a candle in a dark room or sit by a campfire to know this to be true.
Look at your Leo house in your birth chart to see the opaque mirror that Venus may be holding up for your attention.
What is obscuring your vision?
Vision both in the sense of seeing with your eyes and seeing with your heart. Because Leo is most concerned with heart matters. What matters to the heart? Venus asks.
heART.
So consider why your life is not quite yet a work of art or perhaps why you have not pursued this idea that you are an artist responsible for your own life. Response able to not only envision your best life but able to create it.
Venus’ retrograde transit until September 3rd will bring clarity.
Fire can only endure if it clings to something that is not easily exhausted. If you are enthusiastic about something you don’t tire easily. In fact you’re susceptible to burnout - another fire-word. Venus retrograde may also bring this to your attention. Maybe what you need is rest.
Venus rules two signs in the Zodiac: Taurus and Libra. Jupiter, the Greater Benefic, is transiting Taurus and answers to Venus. The Dragon’s tail (South Node) is in Libra and also in service to Venus.
In Taurus, Jupiter and Venus want you to THRIVE. But they want you to be absolutely clear on what that looks like. Remember Fire doesn’t care if the world is ready for your great idea or not. Fire blazes a path anyway.
Think back to 2011-2012 which is when Jupiter was last in Taurus. Where were you? What opportunities opened up for you?
Venus is the principle of attraction and if she teaches anything about attraction in Leo it is this: that people who do their own thing because they’re living their passion are endlessly more fascinating than copycats and wannabes.
The South Node or the dragon’s tail in Libra indicates the area of life that is undergoing a colonic type cleansing or release. (Read this post on the Aries-Libra nodal shift). Look to your Libra House to see what you are being asked to release or move away from. Because Libra is the sign of the scales there is a need for balance and moderation in those areas.
