The Week Ahead 22-28 June
dread & magic & the New Moon in Cancer
Hello friend,
Before my mother passed away in 2022, she sent me a large statue of Mary in a white, gold-trimmed cloak. My mother, like me, was not a practicing Catholic, but she knew I collected religious icons. This beloved statue occupied a corner of my tiny office space until last week, when I felt compelled to relocate it to another spot in our home. Transiting Mars in Virgo is presently conjunct my natal Venus.
This was one of the most literal manifestations of an astrological transit I have experienced. Mars (the drive) moved Venus (the Goddess of Love) into another room. It served as a potent reminder that even seemingly trivial and everyday actions are reflected in the heavens.
As above, so below.
I am – for want of a better word – enjoying this Mars in Virgo transit. He is insisting on accuracy and exactness, which has moved the finish line for me on a project I’m working on. Things are taking longer to complete, but I’m choosing not to fight this energy. Maybe Mars is asking the same thing of you. Maybe there’s a need for exactness in thought and execution.

Sun conjunct Jupiter 8:17 am/Jupiter Cazimi
Jupiter is in the King’s throne room today. In astrology, we refer to this condition as cazimi, and it’s believed that the Sun strengthens the planet, amplifying its powers. Jupiter’s optimistic and road-opening qualities are heightened today. If you want eyes on you, today is not the day as the Moon is void.
Pay attention to what arises today, and don’t be surprised if it is connected to the Cancer part of your house.

New Moon at 5º Cancer 3:30 am
This lunation sees Moon and Sun at 5º Cancer and follows on the heels of the tense Sun square Saturn and Neptune square, so there’s a strong likelihood that you’ll feel emotionally drained. Jupiter is conjunct the Sun and Moon, which increases hope and faith. This is a potent lunation for seeding new ideas or projects, thanks in part to Mars in Virgo. If you tend to what you plant now with meticulous care, you will reap an excellent harvest.
