This weekend (so far)…
sat with musk mallow and purple-flowered borage. Drank ginger and rose petal tea. Spicy and soothing. Ate pistachio gelato. Venus is conjunct Regulus, the Lion star associated with Raphael, the Archangel of healing. Venus on the anaretic degree (29º Leo) is in an out of sign conjunction with my natal Venus in Virgo. I receive her as midnight’s auroral green.
I counted nine butterflies on our morning walk. One magnificent Pale Swallowtail, three Arctic Blue and five Cabbage White butterflies. They love the purple thistle, the mallow and borage.
I saw a bumblebee thicker than my thumb. I shared space with a fierce male red-veined darter, sympetrum fonscolombii, watching over his territory in our local pond. He is Mars.
When I look at a chart like today’s of the luminaries conjoined but not making any major aspects I see a rod of light that both focuses on and holds a pocket of time. Venus on the anaretic degree carries a mirror and holds this mirror at an angle with the sun and that mirror casts an intense fragment of light. This light lingers in your Leo house and rests on points or planets at 12º Leo.
The Sun-Moon are in a wide sextile to Mars and Jupiter in Gemini. These gods, red flame and emerald fire, are in great possession of materials for articulation - everything from coloring pencils to stories. Mars holds sharp words and sharp pencils. The colour of your thoughts are red.
What does red represent to you?
Mars and Jupiter are answering to Mercury in Virgo who stations retrograde at 9:55pm.
This lunation brings home the truth that everything is a performance but you may find yourself performing in front of the mirror and not in front of a captive audience. This is because there are no major aspects.
All the world's a stage and all the men and women, many players, they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare
We speak of authenticity and point to our hearts or our solar plexus but the heart is not a scroll of descriptive words. Identity is something you and I keep making up as we go along. Think about the roles you are currently playing… parent, sister, brother, manager, blogger, server, writer, lover…all performances. Think about how these roles contribute to your definition of self.
Now strip them all away and you are left with ….
Light. Love.
Venus conjunct Regulus.
Light up on the inside.
I’m thinking of T.S. Eliot’s poem The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock.
And indeed there will be time
To wonder, “Do I dare?” and, “Do I dare?”
Time to turn back and descend the stair,
With a bald spot in the middle of my hair—
They will say: “How his hair is growing thin!”
My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin,
My necktie rich and modest, but asserted by a simple pin—
They will say: “But how his arms and legs are thin!”
Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
Yes. Go on, disturb the universe.
When there are no major aspects you are not hindered by anything or anyone except your own mind. You don’t need an audience to witness your performance. Use this time to practice. Use this time to sharpen skills. Or better yet, enjoy your vacation if you are on holiday. Rest.
Venus is quincunx Pluto in Aquarius and Neptune in Pisces.
You’re attracted to Mystery and spiritual matters. Invisible hands are working over you while you sleep. A rainbow bridge to your ancestors from a long ago time is constructed with mantra, music and sound. Seeds of remembering are being planted.
Happy New Moon!
