Mercury-Pluto contacts
open channel between the conscious and unconscious mind
Tomorrow (10 Feb) Mercury will be in an exact conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn. I’ll share what this means for you but I’m going to start with an explanation on how Mercury-Pluto aspects work.
In astrology, Mercury is the principle of communication and many other things like magic. Mercury is how we communicate with ourselves and with others. Mercury is the mantra that reaches the Upper World; the prayer that nourishes the souls in the Underworld and the blessing that heals the living.
Mercury is the magician that shapes our thoughts and those thoughts in turn, shape our world. Mercury is lord of our conscious mind.
Pluto is the dark magician. Lord of the unconscious mind. When these two contact each other, a channel between the conscious and unconscious mind opens up.
If you are a psychoanalyst, witch or magician, aspects between these magic-making planets should be on your must-watch-and-engage-with- list.
When Mercury-Pluto meet up we are invited to birth thought forms that will improve our lives and the lives of others.
What are thought forms?
Every day your brain processes around 70 000 thoughts. Every thought has the potential to grow into a thought form because every thought is real. When you first think about something it doesn’t have much substance to it - it lacks density - but it is still out there as creative energy. You add substance to your thought when you give it energy. How do you do that? You repeat the thought. You affirm it with feeling.
The quality of your feelings determines the type of thought form.
Let’s say someone has said something hurtful and you start brooding on what was said. In doing this you create a thought form. Brooding, worrying, overthinking… all eventually create thought forms that have the ability to manifest as material situations.
Over the weekend, I watched the Pamela Anderson documentary on Netflix and in it she describes how, when she was a child, she wished her abuser would die in a car accident and the day after she said as much to her abuser (her nanny), the nanny died - in a car crash. I don’t have the date for when this occurred but I am willing to bet a Mercury-Pluto aspect was in play.
Many of my clients have described incidents in their lives where they feel guilty for their “magical thinking powers”.
Any thought sufficiently charged with intense emotion can have very real and devastating repercussions.
The secret to all Mercury-Pluto contacts is the intensity of thought.
Mercury will make their final conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn before flying into Aquarius on Saturday. If you have any planets at 29º Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, Libra or Ascendant some aspect of your personality is ready to be shed or some part of your life is coming to a close (job, relationship, routine etc).
With the Waning Gibbous Moon in harmony-restoring Libra and the magicians in a circle of incredible power, I invite you to banish parasitic thought forms that prevent you from flourishing.
How do you counter a negative thought form? You send out an opposing thought of equal emotional intensity to override the initial thought.
I have shared some general affirmations that may assist you in claiming back your power but do refer to your natal Capricorn house for themes. For example if Capricorn is your 7th House you will want to release negative thoughts about relationships and partnerships.
